The community of Kogi State Polytechnic has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of a lecturer, Mr. Anslem Ojodomo.

Ojodomo’s death comes barely a month after the demise of another lecturer, Dr. Barnabas Akuba, who reportedly died in February shortly after completing his PhD programme.

The late Ojodomo was said to have collapsed on Thursday while delivering a lecture to students.

A source within the institution disclosed that the incident occurred during a classroom session, causing panic among students.

“The lecturer suddenly slumped while addressing the students, throwing the class into confusion and panic,” the source said.

He was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but was later confirmed dead despite efforts by medical personnel to revive him.

Sources within the institution revealed that tension and apprehension have gripped the school community, noting that Ojodomo’s death marks the third within six weeks since the assumption of office of the Rector, Prof. Salihu Sanusi, on February 11.

A staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the development as disturbing, particularly as both Ojodomo and Akuba died shortly after defending their doctoral theses.

“Anslem was in a meeting some hours before going for the lecture. We cannot imagine that a man who was bubbling and full of life in the meeting is now dead,” the staff member said.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of the institution had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
