A family member of one Abuja kidnapped victim has reported the alleged shooting to the death of two victims in the hands of their abductors.
The source, according to a report by Daily Trust newspaper, said the kidnappers killed two individuals in their captivity due to a delay in the payment of ransom in Gwargwada, Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
The report identified the victims as Mohammed Danladi and Nasiru Yusuf, who were both natives of Gwargwada village, who were abducted alongside a herder and a woman at Gwombe junction, along the Gwargwada-Rubochi road, last Wednesday.
A relative of the deceased, Shuaibu Abdullahi, spoke to Trust’s reporter on Sunday and explained that the kidnappers demanded N500,000 for each of the two victims. However, the families were only able to raise a total of N500,000.
Abdullahi said, “The kidnappers’ leader called on Friday, and we informed them that we could only raise N500,000, unaware that the kidnappers had already killed two of the victims due to the ransom delay.”
He added that the kidnappers later released the herder and the woman after receiving a total of N3 million ransom at their hideout in Kotonkarfe forest, Kogi State.
The traditional ruler of Gwargwada, Ugbada Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, confirmed the incident, stating that the two victims, who were from Gwargwada, were abducted while returning from Rubochi.
He said, “Unfortunately, the two young men were killed by their abductors because of the delay in paying the ransom. Their bodies have not yet been recovered, as they were taken to Kotonkarfe forest in Kogi State. However, I have been informed that the chairman of Kotonkarfe has mobilized hunters and vigilantes to search the forest, but the bodies have not been found.”
The FCT Police Command has yet to respond to the incident.
