VFS Global, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, has commenced Japan visa application services for residents of Nigeria in Abuja and Lagos.

The Japan Visa Application Centres in Abuja and Lagos officially began operations today, March 3, 2025, providing a dedicated platform for processing visa applications.

The new initiative aims to enhance the visa application experience by offering a streamlined process for Nigerian travelers looking to visit Japan. Applicants will be able to submit their documents for both short-term and long-term visas by appointment only, making the application process more efficient and organized.

VFS Global will offer a variety of optional services to enhance convenience, including a Premium Lounge for personalized assistance, courier services for document delivery, and SMS notifications for status updates.

According to information obtained by Naija Daily News applicants are required to attend their appointment in person, arriving at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

VFS Global clarified that its role is strictly administrative, managing document submissions, while the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria makes the final decision on visa approvals. The company currently operates 38 visa application centres across 13 countries worldwide.

Alok Singhal, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at VFS Global, commented on the development, noting the company’s longstanding partnership with the Government of Japan since 2010.

“These centres will be pivotal in meeting the growing demand for travel to Japan, one of the world’s most popular destinations. We are confident this expansion will improve the customer experience, making the visa application process more efficient and seamless,” he said.

The opening of these new centres in Nigeria is another step forward in facilitating easier travel for Nigerians wishing to visit Japan, ensuring a well-structured and efficient application process.
