Tensions remain high in the Middle East as the ceasefire announced between Israel and Iran faces immediate uncertainty. Despite a public declaration by U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, missile attacks continued, and Iran’s government denied agreeing to any truce.

Trump had announced a “complete and total ceasefire” via Truth Social, stating that Iran would halt strikes first, followed by Israel 12 hours later. He credited diplomatic efforts for the breakthrough and urged both nations to maintain peace. The statement was widely circulated across global news platforms, raising hopes of an end to the 12-day Israel–Iran conflict.

The announcement by the US President came barely 24 hours after the US joined the fray, with Trump deploying B-2 Stealth Bombers with attacks on three strategic Iranian nuclear facilities, a move that alarmed war leaders.

The move also drew strong attacks on US assets and military bases across the Middle East, including Qatar and Iraq.

However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi refuted the announcement, saying there was no final Israel-Iran ceasefire agreement. He warned that Iran would only consider a truce if Israel stopped all military actions unconditionally before the 4 a.m. Tehran deadline.

In direct contradiction to the ceasefire announcement, Iran launched more missiles at Israeli cities, triggering alerts and causing injuries in central Israel. Multiple explosions were reported near Tel Aviv, with emergency services responding to casualties and infrastructure damage.

As of Tuesday morning, Israel has not confirmed its participation in any ceasefire deal. While reports suggest the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) paused some airstrikes, military readiness remains high amid ongoing Iranian aggression.

The Israel–Iran war has escalated rapidly over the past two weeks, with dozens of casualties, cross-border attacks, and drone strikes on both sides. The international community, including the United Nations and European Union, has called for restraint and an urgent diplomatic resolution. The UN Security Council is expected to hold an emergency meeting within hours.

With Iran denying any formal agreement and missile attacks still ongoing, the Israel–Iran ceasefire remains unverified and fragile. Observers warn that the ceasefire risks total collapse without immediate and mutual compliance.
