“I killed 6-year-old boy (Muhammadu Bilah) after I took ice (hard drug)” those were the chilling words of 24-year-old Godspower Ebisimiagha (aka Bobby), who gruesomely murdered Muhammadu Bilah in Yenagao, Bayelsa State capital.

“While eating with the boy, I suddenly stood up and hit him on the floor.”

Ebisimiagha spoke after his arrest by the Police Command in connection with the minor’s murder

The boy, originally from Nasarawa State, was reportedly lured and killed last Tuesday in the Aretalin area of Ovom, Yenagoa Local Government Area. Police investigations revealed that the suspect is linked to the Greenlanders cult group, a gang involved in violent crimes and suspected ritual killings.

According to the police, Bobby may have been hired to deliver a child for ritual purposes involving charms or spiritual protection.

Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Idu, confirmed that an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death and to check if poisoning was involved.

During questioning, Bobby admitted to killing the boy while under the influence of crystal meth, locally called “ice.” He stated, “I took ice that day. While eating with the boy, I suddenly stood up and hit him on the floor.”

Bobby was injured in a mob attack before police intervened. However, police are skeptical about his confession because the boy’s body showed no signs of blunt force injuries, suggesting poisoning as a possible cause of death.

The suspect denied rumors that he was paid one million naira to carry out the killing. “I was not paid to bring the boy for ritual,” he said.

Commissioner Idu assured the public and advocacy groups like the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) that the police are committed to transparency and justice. “We will leave no stone unturned in this investigation,” he said.

The Bayelsa police are working closely with child protection organizations to ensure accountability and justice.
