A man known only as ‘Doctor’ has allegedly stabbed his lover, nicknamed Ima, to death during an argument in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The incident, which occurred Sunday night on Okereke Street in Mile 1 Diobu, caused panic among residents of the area.
Sources said the man had accused Ima of cheating, which led to a heated exchange. During the argument, he reportedly pulled a knife and fatally stabbed her.
A resident of the compound revealed that the caretaker, upon discovering the incident, rushed to the Azikiwe Police Division in Mile 2 Diobu to report the matter. Police officers responded quickly, arrested the suspect at the scene, and removed the body.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident. She said the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for a detailed investigation.
On Monday morning, a crowd gathered at the police station as the victim’s body was brought in before being taken to the mortuary.
This case follows a disturbing pattern in the city. In a separate recent incident, a woman allegedly poisoned her boyfriend over suspicions of infidelity and hid his body under the bed for three days before police discovered it.
