The newly elected Deputy Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Barrister Abdulsalam Ginsau, has been found dead in an elevator at a hotel in Abuja.

Ginsau’s lifeless body was discovered on Saturday by the hotel management after he was reported missing a day earlier.

Sources said the deceased, who was among Kano delegates to the recent APC convention in Abuja, arrived in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday evening. days Concern arose on Friday morning when he failed to appear at the convention venue and could not be reached on his phone.

The party’s Organising Secretary in Kano, Kabiru Zawaciki, who confirmed the incident, said initial efforts to locate Ginsau proved abortive, even after hotel staff used a master key to open his room.

“He was supposed to join us at the convention ground on Friday morning from his hotel, but he was nowhere to be found, and his phone was unreachable,” Zawaciki said.

He explained that party members later received a call from the police on Saturday evening, directing them to a divisional station near the hotel, where Ginsau’s body was identified.

According to Zawaciki, hotel management reportedly found the deceased inside the elevator. He suggested that Ginsau may have suffocated due to a possible power outage and system failure, though the exact cause of death remains unknown.

The body was deposited at the National Hospital, Abuja, where an autopsy has been conducted, with results still being awaited.

Zawaciki added that legal steps were already being taken by the deceased’s colleagues, particularly over the hotel management’s inability to provide clear answers regarding the incident. He noted that this contributed to the delay in burial arrangements, adding that the remains were scheduled to be transported to Kano for burial.

Meanwhile, the APC spokesperson in Kano, Auwal Sani Soja, said the party had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ginsau’s death. He disclosed that a state-level committee had been set up to work with security agencies.

Soja also revealed that the Kano State Government had contacted the family of the deceased and pledged support in uncovering the cause of death.

A family representative, Hamza Haladu, described the incident as shocking, noting that Ginsau was in good health and high spirits before travelling to Abuja. He added that the state government had assured the family that a thorough investigation would be carried out to determine what led to the tragic incident.
