A teenage girl is in critical condition after being viciously attacked by a pack of dogs owned by her parents in Warri, Delta State.
The horrifying incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a residential estate off Metronex Road along Effurun-Warri Road. Eyewitnesses say the girl was mauled in broad daylight, leaving her with severe and life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, the victim resides with her family in the estate, where her father keeps six aggressive dogs in the same compound. She is said to be the only daughter among three children in the household.
“What triggered the brutal attack is still unknown,” a source told our correspondent. “But when the incident happened, the dogs were in a frenzy. No one could approach to help her immediately because the animals were wild and extremely dangerous.”
Residents described the attack as terrifying. By the time the girl managed to escape the dogs’ grip, she had suffered gruesome injuries. One witness stated that her arm was almost torn off, and her clothes had been ripped away during the assault.
“She ran out of the compound naked and screaming, but nobody could go near her. The dogs were barking aggressively and charged at anyone who tried to help,” the resident recounted.

The situation only came under control when a mobile police officer arrived at the scene and shot two of the dogs. This action gave neighbours the chance to rush the critically injured girl to a nearby hospital.
As of the time of this report, her exact medical condition remains unclear, but sources say she is fighting for her life.
