Gunmen killed four police officers who were stationed in the ‘Yar Tsamiyar Jino area of Kankara local government, Katsina State on Wednesday.
Aside from eliminating the officers on duty, the attackers burned the police operational vehicle.
A source revealed that the gunmen initially planned to ambush travellers heading to Kankara Market from the Mai Dabino area.
However, locals avoided the route after getting wind of the plot, forcing the attackers to shift their focus to the ‘Yar Tsamiyar Jino village, where the tragic incident occurred.
The Katsina State Police Command is yet to comment on the development at the time of filing this report.
