Suspected gunmen have abducted a two-month-old baby during an attack on a commercial tricycle along the NNPC Link Road in Ekpan, Delta State.
The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Monday when the baby’s mother, Mrs Rita Oghale, boarded a tricycle, popularly known as a keke, from Shaguolor Junction to Airport Road with her two children.
Mrs Oghale said two other passengers—a man and a woman—were seated at the back of the tricycle. She explained that as the vehicle approached the NNPC Link Road, near the Delta Careers College fence and shortly before the traffic light, the male passenger suddenly produced a gun and demanded her infant, identified as Riches.
According to her, the suspect forcefully snatched the baby, collected her phone number, and pushed her and her other child out of the tricycle before the driver sped off with the suspects.
The distraught mother said the incident had been reported at a nearby police station and appealed to members of the public with any information that could help locate and rescue her baby to contact the nearest police station.
