Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents of the state to embrace peace, unity and religious tolerance as they celebrate Christmas, describing the season as a time for reflection on love, sacrifice and compassion.
In a Christmas message issued on December 25, 2025, the governor congratulated citizens for witnessing what he described as a “beautiful season of hope, renewal and thanksgiving,” anchored on the birth of Jesus Christ, whom he referred to as the Prince of Peace.
Fubara said Christmas represents a profound expression of God’s love and His gift of peace to humanity, urging residents to allow these values to guide their relationships with one another, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences. He encouraged citizens to recommit to the responsibility of being one another’s keeper, particularly in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges.
The governor stressed that the progress of Rivers State depends largely on unity and harmony, reaffirming his commitment to the Rivers First agenda, which he said is driven by peace and focused on inclusive development. According to him, only a united and stable state can achieve meaningful infrastructure growth, economic strength and a prosperous future for all.
He also called for dialogue and understanding in place of discord and division, while urging residents to remain security-conscious, noting that the safety of the state is a collective responsibility that requires vigilance, cooperation and mutual support.
Fubara concluded by wishing residents a peaceful Christmas celebration and a smooth transition into 2026, expressing hope that the new year would bring purpose, progress and breakthroughs to the people of Rivers State.
