The Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has suspended Mr Otonye Briggs, the Caretaker Committee chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.
The suspension took immediate effect, with a replacement, Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, appointed to take over as Chairman.
Briggs was directed to hand over all council’s property to Amieye.
The Governor’s decision was conveyed in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
While the reasons behind the suspension are unclear, the move gave a hint that all is not rosy in the Governor’s camp and the leadership of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area.
