President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the State House, Abuja.
The talks come just days after Governor Fubara officially resumed office on September 19, following the end of the six-month state of emergency imposed on Rivers State.
The emergency rule, declared in March, was lifted last week after the President cited progress in restoring peace and stability in the oil-rich state. The measure had been introduced to curb a prolonged political crisis that threatened governance and security in the region.
Today’s meeting is expected to focus on consolidating peace, strengthening democratic institutions, and ensuring smooth governance as normal political activities return to Rivers.
