Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), days after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fubara was received on Friday at the Government House, Port Harcourt, by a delegation led by the APC State Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo. During the event, the governor completed the party’s membership form and other documentation before being presented with his APC slip and membership card.

Okocha, who said he was mandated by the APC National Chairman to officially receive the governor, congratulated Fubara on his decision to join the ruling party. He noted that the governor’s move aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would further strengthen political collaboration in the state.

He assured Fubara of the party’s full support, saying the APC in Rivers would work under his leadership to ensure progress and stability.

In his remarks, Governor Fubara said aligning with the APC was necessary for the development of Rivers State and for strengthening its relationship with the federal government. He added that the decision was also aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful re-election bid for President Tinubu in 2027.

Fubara pledged to consolidate the APC’s presence in the state, promising to provide the party’s leadership and structures with all necessary support.

He said the state would work collectively to promote the President’s agenda and secure broad political stability, assuring party members that every need of the APC executive and structures in Rivers would be his responsibility going forward.
