The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled an integrated ISO policy aimed at achieving full ISO certification for all airports in the country by December 2025.

The announcement, contained in a statement signed by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbehire, followed the formal presentation of the policy on Monday, October 21, 2025.

The new framework combines two international standards—ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems (EMS)—to create a unified approach to operational efficiency, service quality, and environmental sustainability across all Nigerian airports.

FAAN said about 70% of the certification process has been completed, with external auditors scheduled to assess compliance in November 2025.

At the unveiling ceremony, FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. Loqman Emiola, described the integrated ISO policy as a milestone in the Authority’s drive to institutionalize global best practices in the aviation sector.

Kuku explained that the policy provides a working document for internal audits across directorates, ensuring that all operational activities are standardized, documented, and aligned with FAAN’s principles of quality, safety, and sustainability.

She emphasized that the initiative would not only strengthen FAAN’s operational credibility but also enhance Nigeria’s aviation competitiveness and promote environmental responsibility.

ISO certification is an internationally recognized benchmark that ensures organizations meet globally accepted standards for quality management, safety, and environmental performance.

By adopting the integrated ISO framework, FAAN aims to align Nigerian airports with international standards, ensuring operations remain efficient, safe, and environmentally sustainable. The Authority expects to complete the final phase of certification by December 2025 following the scheduled external audit in November.
