The Delta State Oil Prices Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has announced the opening of its 2025 Bursary Program.

DESOPADEC, in a notice on Wednesday, said the program aimed at supporting the educational pursuits of qualified Delta State students is strictly for indigenes of the Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ika, Isoko, and Ndokwa.

According to the notice, applications open on May 7th, 2025, and close on May 28th, 2025.

Eligible students are encouraged to apply within this period using the official portal of DESOPADEC @https://Www.desopadecbursary.com.ng.

DESOPADEC is a government agency established by the Delta State Government of Nigeria in 2006. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the development of communities in the state that produce oil and gas. These communities often face environmental degradation and economic hardship due to the impact of oil exploration, and DESOPADEC was created to address these imbalances through targeted intervention and development programs.

DESOPADEC is funded through a statutory allocation of 50% of the 13% oil derivation revenue received by the Delta State Government from the federal government. This allocation is specifically earmarked for the development of oil-producing communities in the state.
