Members of staff of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, are lamenting the death of one of them, Mr. Olisaemeka Chukwuma.

Chukwuma, 56, Bursary Department, was killed in his home in the St. Bridges area of Umueji, Asaba, the Delta state capital, over the weekend.

He had reportedly returned to Asaba for his usual weekend visit when the incident occurred.

The institution’s bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, described the incident as a “very shocking and unexpected death.”

“He was a very good jolly fellow. He had a good relationship with everyone. You will never hear him raise his voice against anyone. He was always smiling and happy,” she lamented.

The bursar prayed to God to give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.

Also, a university staff, Mr. Moses Darah, who took to his Facebook page to mourn the loss, said the deceased “was known for his peaceful and jovial nature.”

“I urge the police authorities to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“As I speak to you now, Asaba is no longer safe, we are confused over the situation,” he said.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and said that the matter was being investigated.
