The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sack and investigate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged corruption and actions it described as inimical to Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement issued by its chairman, Obinna Nwachukwu, the group accused Wike of undermining democratic institutions and engaging in practices that allegedly include manipulating governance processes and procuring favourable court rulings.
CP-PDP described Wike as a “political vagabond,” alleging that he was disgraced by the same political interests he served after working against the PDP, which eventually led to his expulsion from the party.
The group dismissed claims that Wike is not a member of the APC, arguing that his role as a top official in an APC-led federal government and his active participation in party activities contradict such assertions.
According to CP-PDP, Wike has been involved in the formulation and implementation of APC policies that have allegedly worsened the hardship faced by Nigerians, while also campaigning for APC candidates across the country.
The group urged the ruling party to demonstrate commitment to accountability by distancing itself from the minister and subjecting him to a thorough investigation, warning that failure to do so would further erode public trust in the political system.
