Panic broke out at the Delta State Government House in Asaba over the weekend when a cow, brought in for slaughter, went on a rampage and attacked several staff members.

One of the victims, a man in his 30s, was seriously injured while attempting to restrain the animal. According to eyewitnesses, the cow knocked him down and inflicted deep wounds on his thighs. He was initially taken to the Government House Clinic for emergency treatment but was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital due to the severity of his injuries. He is currently reported to be in critical condition.

Another staff member, identified only as Peter, a cook at the Government House, also sustained injuries during the incident.

A source revealed that the first two butchers called to slaughter the cow were unable to handle it and fled the scene. The severely injured man was reportedly the second person brought in to subdue the animal.

As of the time of this report, no official statement has been released by the Government House regarding the incident.
