At least five people were killed and three others injured when armed bandits attacked a church gathering in Kampani village, Maro, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, during a meeting of members of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), according to a report shared on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via X.
Citing police sources, Makama said a distress call was made at approximately 9:20 p.m., prompting the deployment of a joint team of police and other security operatives to the scene.
The five victims — Victor Haruna, Dogara Jatau, Luka Yari, Jesse Dalami, and Bawu John — were confirmed dead after being taken to the hospital.
Three others — Samuel Aliyu, Philip Dominic, and Jacob Hussaini — sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
Security agencies have launched a manhunt for the attackers, with investigations ongoing.
