Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has dismissed claims that his wife, Natasha Osawaru, controls his movements or restricts him from performing at shows.

The music icon spoke during an interview on the Mic On podcast, where he addressed persistent rumours surrounding his marriage. Describing the allegations as false and exaggerated, 2Baba said suggestions that Natasha limits his professional activities were “absurd.”

“People just try to create doubts and fake news. There is nobody in this world who doesn’t get involved in a disagreement once in a while. Everybody is just hiding behind ‘allegedly,’” he said.

He added that his recent performances contradict the narrative, noting that he remained active on stage throughout the past year. “I did shows last year and I was going out. People saw me… From last year to this year, I have entertained people a lot,” he stated.

His comments come months after a December 2025 Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze, during which two of his former management associates, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, accused Osawaru of exerting excessive control over his personal and professional life. They also alleged violent outbursts and referenced a past domestic disturbance in the United Kingdom.

During the livestream, 2Baba abruptly joined and ordered the discussion to stop. Moments later, raised voices believed to be his and Osawaru’s were heard before the broadcast ended abruptly.

The episode revived earlier reports that the singer was briefly detained by police in the UK during his October tour following an alleged altercation with Osawaru. Although 2Baba had denied the claim at the time, explaining that he missed a show due to a medical emergency, the controversy resurfaced after the livestream.

Public scrutiny of the relationship intensified after 2Baba announced his separation from actress Annie Idibia in January 2025. He later proposed to Osawaru in February, and the couple married in July.

Reflecting on the heated livestream, 2Baba admitted he regretted his reaction. “I was angry that day and I let my emotions get the best of me. When you react in anger, sometimes you will regret what you do. For me, it was an unfortunate incident,” he said.

Asked about his relationship with Annie Idibia, the singer declined to go into details, saying only that they are on good terms. He also admitted shortcomings as a father, noting that his career had kept him away from his children for long periods.

On the possibility of a reunion with his former group, Plantashun Boiz, 2Baba said there are no immediate plans. He added that long-standing disputes with former bandmate Blackface had been settled out of court but insisted a reunion was unlikely for now.

The singer also reflected on life in the public eye, describing privacy as a casualty of fame. “Privacy is golden, but unfortunately I am an artiste, so I already revoked my right to privacy by putting myself in the spotlight through my music,” he said.
