The Otor-Owhe community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State was on Tuesday thrown into chaos as furious youths set a man ablaze for allegedly beheading a woman.
The suspect, identified as Oghenero, reportedly killed the woman in the bush after she slapped his mother.
According to a community source who witnessed the incident, the slain woman, said to be from Emevor and Orogun, had allegedly slapped Oghenero’s mother during an argument. Upon returning home, Oghenero’s mother informed him about the altercation.
“Immediately, Oghenero went straight to the bush and saw the woman farming and beheaded her and brought her head home.
“Reaching home with the head of the woman in a polythene bag, Oghenero was arrested by the local vigilante within the community and was shot in the legs while trying to escape before he was set ablaze by Irate youths of the community.”
At the time of this report, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, had not responded to calls or messages sent to his mobile phone.
