Sherifat Bamidele on Wednesday approached an Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to Suleiman Popoola over claims of irresponsible conduct.
Bamidele informed the court that she married Popoola according to Islamic rites in March 2024. She alleged that her husband failed to provide for her and the child she brought into the marriage, leaving her to shoulder all financial responsibilities.
“I pay the rent, cover feeding expenses, maintain the household, and care for my child alone,” she stated. “I can no longer cope with this kind of life and I want a divorce.”
The Presiding Judge, Mr. Toyin Aluko, adjourned the matter until August 12 for mention.
