Security operatives have arrested the head of Sukutum village in Kankiya Local Government Area of Katsina State over allegations of acting as an informant for armed bandits.
The arrest was confirmed on Wednesday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.
According to Makama, the unnamed suspect was apprehended based on intelligence linking him to criminal groups operating in the region. Quoting security sources, he said the village head allegedly provided information on security personnel movements and vulnerable communities, enabling the bandits to carry out targeted attacks.
“The sources also claimed he regularly visited the bandits in their hideouts to maintain contact and coordinate their activities,” Makama added.
Authorities confirmed the suspect is in custody and currently under investigation to determine the extent of his involvement and uncover any possible collaborators.
