Troops operating in Borno State have arrested a 15-year-old suspect, identified as Tijjani, who allegedly confessed to involvement in recent attacks on Benisheik and Ngamdu communities.
Security sources disclosed that the teenager was apprehended on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Ngamdu during ongoing military operations targeting insurgent activities in the area.
According to the sources, the suspect, during preliminary interrogation, admitted being part of a group that carried out Thursday’s attacks on the affected communities, which have faced repeated assaults by insurgent groups linked to Boko Haram and its allied factions.
The suspect further claimed he had been moving across several locations within the insurgency-affected areas of northern Borno prior to his arrest. He reportedly told investigators that he had recently separated from other members of his group shortly before the operation that led to his capture.
Security operatives say investigations are ongoing.
