President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday formally swore in Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police, ushering in a new leadership era for the Nigeria Police Force.
The ceremony was held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja shortly before the commencement of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Disu took the oath of office in the presence of senior government officials, ministers and members of his family, officially assuming office as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer.
During the ceremony, the President also administered the oath of office to six commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and two commissioners of the Federal Civil Service Commission.
Among top dignitaries in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser; and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Esther Walson-Jack.
The Federal Executive Council meeting commenced immediately after the swearing-in, with a large number of council members in attendance.
