A teenage boy, identified as Tersoo Veregh, has been found hanging from the roof of his father’s house on Lorkyaako Street, High Level area of Makurdi, Benue State, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.
According to counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who shared the report on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Makama stated that the boy’s father made the shocking discovery around 2 a.m. when he stepped out of his room to ease himself and found his son hanging from the roof.
Upon receiving the report, officers from the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Makurdi, led by the Divisional Police Officer, visited the scene, took photographs, and evacuated the body to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital mortuary.
Confirming the incident, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Udeme Edet, said investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
“We are aware of the incident, and for now, the investigation is ongoing,” Edet said in a telephone conversation on Sunday.
The incident adds to the growing number of suicide-related cases reported in Benue State and other parts of Nigeria in recent months.
