A girl believed to be about 15 years old lost her life in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday afternoon near the Muslim Under Bridge area along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses said the tragedy occurred while the teenager was attempting to cross the expressway. She was struck by a speeding vehicle whose driver failed to stop and immediately fled the scene.

As of the time of filing this report, the victim’s identity remains unknown. Her body lay by the roadside, drawing a crowd of shocked onlookers and residents.

Mr. Ibrahim Adebayo, a roadside mechanic who witnessed the incident, recounted: “She looked unsure but determined to cross. The road was busy as usual. Before we knew it, a car came at high speed and hit her. The driver didn’t even attempt to stop; he just kept going. It was horrible.”

Another eyewitness, Mrs. Yetunde Balogun, a food vendor in the area, described the girl as appearing to be a secondary school student. “She looked very young. Nobody knows her around here, and no one has come to look for her since it happened,” she said.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, for official confirmation were unsuccessful as calls to his line went unanswered.
