NIGERIA: It was a Sunday of mourning in Kajuru, Kaduna, Nigeria on Sunday as armed bandits struck, killing three members and kidnapping 30 others, including a pastor during church services in Bakinpah-Maro Community.
Agency reports said the gunmen, suspected to be members of tribal militias, attacked a Catholic and Evangelic Church Winning All, ECWA, in Bakinpah-Maro Community in Kajuru LGA.
A local leader and former chairman of the LGA, Mr Cafra Caino, who confirmed the report, said 30 worshippers were abducted during the hour-long operation, which started at 10.00 AM.
He said the gunmen stormed the scene in large numbers.
Sources from the area said Maro has suffered constant attacks by bandits in recent times.
Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Munir Hassan was not available for comment on the Sunday attack, but many sources in the area who confirmed the attack said people were fleeing the area in large number.
NDN learnt that attacks on citizens of communities in Kajuru have increased in the last year, despite various measures, including building security posts, by the residents.
