Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has recorded decisive victories in key polling units as voting and collation continue in the Anambra governorship election.
At his own polling unit — Unit 002, Umuezeadigo Street, Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area — Soludo secured an overwhelming 417 votes. His closest challenger, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), received just four votes, while the Accord Party candidate got one. Eight votes were declared invalid out of 430 accredited voters, according to Presiding Officer Miss Obiorah Anwulike, who announced the results around 5:30 p.m.
In a symbolic win beyond his stronghold, Soludo also emerged victorious at the polling unit of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Anambra governor, Peter Obi. At Umudimakasi, Agulu Ward 2, Polling Unit 008 — where Obi cast his vote — Soludo polled 19 votes, ahead of the APC’s Nicholas Chukwujekwu with 10 votes. The Young Progressives Party (YPP) received four votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got one.
The results highlight growing local support for the incumbent governor as Anambra awaits full collation of votes across the state.
