Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has declared he owes no one an apology for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite belonging to different political parties.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the President at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, Soludo said his support is based on shared progressive values and a friendship spanning over two decades.
“President Tinubu has been my friend for 22 years. I don’t deny my friends, and I have no apologies for standing by him,” Soludo stated. “I support the bold economic and structural reforms his administration is taking. We’re on the right path — we just need to stay the course.”
The former Central Bank Governor emphasized the importance of progressive political forces working together to strengthen democracy and drive national development. He said his call for unity among progressives dates back to Tinubu’s visit to Anambra, where pro-cooperation campaign materials were displayed across the state.
Addressing insecurity in Anambra, Soludo said his administration is pursuing a “holistic” strategy that combines both force and social intervention. He highlighted the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, enacted in January, as a key step in cracking down on criminal elements.
“Native doctors who deceive and recruit our youths into crime are fleeing the state. We’re breaking the backbone of criminality,” he said.
On non-kinetic efforts, Soludo pointed to major investments in job creation and youth empowerment. Over the past year, 5,000 youths have been trained and empowered, with another 8,700 set to receive financial support in the coming months.
“We’re building thousands of youth millionaires in three years. This is transforming communities across the state,” he said, adding that alongside development, law enforcement will continue to crack down on lawbreakers through intelligence-led operations.
