The Paramount ruler of Ikuru Town in Andoni Local Government Area of River State, HRH, King Dr. Aaron Miller Ikuru has been slammed with an indefinite suspension for failure to appear before a constituted panel of inquiry to answer allegations of bordering on funds misappropriation.

Ikuru is alleged to have misappropriated over N3b of community funds, including funds given by Green Energy International Limited for the electrification of the community,

The indefinite suspension, according to a statement signed by the secretary of the panel, Elder Gad Uwa, is under section 138 of the constitution of Ikuru Town, 1996, after he failed to abide by Section 81 of the same, which initially suspended him for six months.

” During the last General Congress meeting, the Assembly unanimously voted to extend your suspension Indefinitely due to your failure to honor or respond to multiple invitations to account for over three billion naira ( N3,000,000,000,000) that accrued to the community during the period under investigation.”

The panel’s invitation, according to the statement; “is issued in exercise of the powers conferred on the Ikuru Town Assembly in Section 55 subsection (1) of the Constitution of Ikuru Town, 1996, which empowers the community to recover any funds belonging to the community that may have been misappropriated.”

The statement further explained that the panel is inviting King Ikuru as part of its efforts to unravel the mystery of an alleged disappearance of the most recent payment of two hundred and ten million Naira (N210m) received from Green Energy International Limited as a fine.
