Chairman and Founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has commended Nigeria’s Super Eagles for their spirited outing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, pledging to honour a promised $500,000 reward despite the team’s semi-final elimination.

Nigeria’s unbeaten run at the tournament came to an end on Tuesday night after the Super Eagles lost 4–2 on penalties to hosts Morocco, following a goalless draw after extra time.

Reacting to the result in a post on X on Wednesday, Rabiu praised the players for their resilience, commitment, and courage throughout the competition, describing their performance as a source of national pride.

He acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the defeat but stressed that the team’s fighting spirit, passion, and unity were more important than the outcome, noting that the players left everything on the pitch.

Rabiu also confirmed that he would fulfil his earlier financial commitment to the team, stating that the $500,000 pledge would be redeemed as a mark of appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and the joy they brought to Nigerians during the tournament.

Encouraging the players to remain optimistic, the BUA chairman urged the Super Eagles to keep their heads high, expressing confidence that the experience and lessons from the campaign would lead to greater success in the future.

The Super Eagles earned widespread praise for their disciplined and determined performances at the 2025 AFCON, narrowly missing out on a place in the final after a tense penalty shootout defeat in the semi-final.
