The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 46-year-old man, Ahmed Mohammed, whose lifeless body was found hanging on a tree in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The incident was reported on Monday at the foothills of Bagale Mountain. Mohammed, a resident of Anguwan Hona, was discovered under circumstances yet to be determined.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command described the case as one of sudden and unnatural death.

“The Adamawa State Police Command recorded a case of sudden and unnatural death reported on 23rd March, 2026, following the discovery of a lifeless body hanging on a tree at the foothills of Bagale Mountain, Girei Local Government Area,” the statement read.

According to the police, the deceased was evacuated to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

The command said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and urged members of the public with useful information to assist in the probe.
