The Adamawa State Police Command is investigating two separate incidents of suspected culpable homicide linked to domestic violence in Madagali and Gombi Local Government Areas.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the first case occurred in Pallam District, Madagali, following a violent altercation between two co-wives — Rhoda Anthony, 55, and Victoria Anthony, 36 — both married to one Anthony Pallam.

During the dispute, Victoria’s 16-year-old son, Ijai Anthony, allegedly struck his stepmother, Rhoda, on the head with a piece of wood. She collapsed from the blow and was rushed by police to Cottage Hospital, Madagali, where she was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

The statement confirmed that both the suspect and his mother have been taken into protective custody as investigations continue.

In a separate but similarly tragic incident in Fotta District, Gombi LGA, police responded to a report of a man fatally stabbing his father.

The suspect, Idi Buba, allegedly attacked his biological father, Buba Jelli, with a knife during a domestic argument, inflicting fatal wounds to the neck and back. The victim died while receiving treatment at the Fotta Primary Health Care Center.

Nguroje stated that the suspect was arrested at the scene and that the weapon used in the attack has been recovered as evidence.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned both incidents, particularly the growing trend of family-related violence. He urged residents to seek peaceful means of resolving conflicts and to refrain from resorting to violence.

He assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of the inquiries.
