Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two young lovers, identified as Princess and Prince, for orchestrating a fake kidnapping to extort N2,000,000 from the girl’s family.

This was disclosed in a post on X.com by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday.

According to Edafe, Princess visited her boyfriend’s house on December 30, 2024, and was unable to leave because her boyfriend could not provide her transportation fare. She persuaded him to call her parents, falsely claiming she had been abducted.

Following her instructions, Prince contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N2m for her “release.”

The girl’s family reportedly begged the supposed abductors to release her with the little money they had, ranging from N40,000 to 500,000, but they refused.

They were paid the N2m ransom which they planned to share among themselves before the police got involved.

Edafe said: “The mum reported to the command that her child had been kidnapped; we did our job as usual, and boom. The mum got the shock of her life. See what children of these days do to their parents.”
