Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested three suspected child traffickers and rescued 17 children in the Zaria area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, saying the suspects were intercepted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, following credible intelligence about the suspicious movement of children under the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.

According to Hassan, detectives from the Danmagaji Division acted swiftly, rescuing 17 minors who were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country.

Those arrested include Musa Shuaibu (21) of Funtua, Katsina State; Sani Mamman (23) of Ingawa, Katsina State; and Mubarak Ismail (20) of Unguwa Uku, Kano State.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to having brought the children from different locations and were in the process of transporting them to Abuja and beyond before their arrest,” Hassan said.

He added that the rescued victims are in good health and currently under police protection as efforts are ongoing to trace and reunite them with their families.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the operatives for their prompt action and reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking and exploitation.

He also warned parents and guardians to be cautious of individuals who make deceitful promises of better opportunities for their children in urban areas.

“The suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted upon completion of investigations,” the police commissioner assured.

The Command further urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or persons in their communities to the nearest police station for immediate action.
