The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 28-year-old Victor Cletus, a serial impostor who defrauded and sexually exploited a young woman by pretending to be a medical doctor.

Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Omolola Odutola, said the arrest followed a distress report from the victim, who revealed that Cletus contacted her via Snapchat, claiming to be a surgeon at Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Believing his false credentials, the victim confided in him about a lump in her right breast.

Odutola explained that Cletus took advantage of her vulnerability by demanding an unspecified amount of money for a supposed operation. He allegedly instructed her to meet him for the procedure, but instead sexually abused her and withdrew funds from her Opay account. The victim became suspicious when he repeatedly demanded sexual favors without performing any medical treatment.

Upon contacting Babcock University Teaching Hospital, the victim discovered that Cletus was not a doctor but a hospital cleaner. He is currently under investigation and will be prosecuted.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the act, warning online predators and impostors that such crimes will not be tolerated. He urged young women to exercise caution online and not to trust strangers with personal or medical information.

Ogunlowo reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting individuals who use social media to commit crimes, stressing the need for heightened vigilance against fraudsters and sexual predators.
