A somber mood has enveloped the Rivers State Police Command following the apparent suicide of a police inspector, Maxwell Zabu. The incident took place at the Eagle Island residence of a former chairman of the Port Harcourt Local Government Area in the early hours of Tuesday, April 22.
The Eagle Island police post received the report, prompting detectives from the Azikiwe Police Division to visit the scene and commence preliminary investigations.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that inquiries are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding Inspector Zabu’s death.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has directed the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt to carry out a thorough investigation.
As of now, the motive behind Inspector Zabu’s actions remains unclear, and efforts are underway to determine what led to the tragic event.
