The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a constable serving with the Taraba State Command over the theft of a goat, underscoring its commitment to upholding discipline and integrity within the ranks.
An official signal from the Commissioner of Police, DFA Jalingo, addressed to the Divisional Police Officer in Mutum Biyu, identified the dismissed officer as Police Constable Usman Mohammed, formerly attached to the Mutum Biyu Division.
According to the statement, the dismissal was carried out following established disciplinary procedures in line with the Police Act and Regulation 370, Cap 389 of the 2010 Laws of the Federation, as amended.
“The offence, classified under paragraph ‘E’ of the First Schedule of the Police Act, warranted the immediate termination of Constable Mohammed’s appointment,” the statement read.
Police authorities further directed that all official items issued to the officer, including his police identification card, be recovered without delay. His salary has been halted, and his service records have been updated to reflect the dismissal.
The Force reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, regardless of rank or circumstance.
