The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a man, Anas Ahmed, his wife, Halimatu, and their young daughter, Jidda, in the early hours of Tuesday in the Filin Canada Quarters of Katsina metropolis.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the attack occurred around 3:00 a.m. when suspected gunmen stormed the victims’ residence. During the attack, 25-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad, a member of the local vigilante group, was shot and killed.

Following a distress call, officers responded swiftly to the scene, restoring calm and launching a full investigation to track down the assailants.

Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, alongside senior command officers, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. He ordered the deployment of additional personnel and resources to ensure the safe rescue of the kidnapped victims and the apprehension of those responsible.

The Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via its emergency lines. Members of the public with useful information are encouraged to come forward, with assurances that all reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.
