The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared itself the only political force capable of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
This was stated by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, during a press conference on Monday in Abuja.
According to Ologunagba, the PDP is not only undergoing internal reforms but also remains deeply rooted across Nigeria with strong grassroots support.
“We are an organic, nationally rooted party. There is no community in Nigeria without a PDP presence,” he said.
He noted that during its time in power, the PDP made a positive impact, even in the most remote parts of the country. He also claimed growing public interest in the party, adding that many Nigerians are calling for the PDP’s return.
“People reach out to me privately, urging us to unite and rescue the country,” he added.
Describing the APC as a “bad market,” Ologunagba expressed confidence that the ruling party would not win re-election in 2027, regardless of its presidential candidate. He said no patriotic Nigerian would support the APC given its current performance.
Addressing recent defections, he maintained that the PDP remains strong and united, with its core supporters intact.
“While leaders matter, a party’s true strength lies in its followers. Our grassroots supporters are not leaving,” he emphasized.
He also announced that the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is scheduled to hold from July 23 to 25. Invitations, he confirmed, have been sent to all NEC members.
The meeting will receive reports from the zoning and convention committees and ratify previously concluded congresses across the country..
