Tragedy struck at Moduganari community in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Sunday, October 6, as a pastor slumped and died while performing a naming ceremony.
The deceased, Pastor Vincent Alaku of Church of The Brethren, EYN LCC, Moduganari, reportedly slumped while on the pulpit.
Church members said he died while was heading the church in an acting capacity.
“He was in the middle of a child naming and dedication service when he suddenly slumped and passed away, still holding the microphone,” a church source said.
While no official source could confirm the report, church members confirmed the tragic event on the church’s Facebook page.
“We regret to announce the sudden demise of the EYN Church Pastor… who passed away after collapsing during a child naming and dedication service. May he rest in peace.” – Zaphaniah Kwaji said.
“He was acting in his capable role. And just suddenly collapsed. Much pain, confusion, shock, sadness. We will never forget this day! 6th October, 2024,” Tankwa Chokali, another member said.
