
NIGERIA: A businesswoman whose driver and two policemen were killed on Monday in Effurun, Delta State, has been rescued from her abductors.
Sources said the victim a foodstuffs and farm produce dealer around MTN, Effurun/Sapele Road, was found after the getaway car used by the criminals broke down somewhere around Okoloba in Effurun, Uvwie LGA.
“Thanks to God. The car stopped at the curve of Okoloba Road so the kidnappers ran away leaving their victim behind.”
“She is presently in the hospital for medical care,” a source said on Tuesday.
It would be recalled that the city was thrown into confusion on Monday night after armed men killed three persons, including two police before abducting the businesswoman.
The gunmen struck at Okoloba area of Effurun, attacking the business owner who rode in a Toyota SUV.
Her driver and police orderlies were shot dead before, while she was whisked away to an unknown location.
The businesswoman, according to various sources, owns a thriving foodstuffs and farm products business around the Effurun market area.
“Someone said she was attacked at the point where she stopped to buy loaves of bread and other groceries for her family.”
“Her driver was shot and killed at the spot along with the two mobile policemen on her entourage,” the source added.
