The Nollywood film Oversabi Aunty, produced and directed by actress Toyin Abraham, has emerged as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time in West Africa after surpassing the ₦700 million mark at the box office.

The film achieved the milestone within just 18 days of its cinema release, further cementing its status as one of the most successful Nollywood cinema releases in recent years.

The record was announced on Monday by the movie’s official distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, via a post on its Instagram page. According to the distributor, Oversabi Aunty has grossed ₦711.5 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film in West Africa and the second highest-grossing movie of the weekend.

FilmOne attributed the feat largely to strong audience turnout across cinemas in the region. In its post, the company said, “West Africa, you showed up and showed out in an Oversabi way. Thank you for the love. In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed ₦711.5M, making it the 4th highest Nollywood film of all time in West Africa. This win is for all of us.”

The latest achievement builds on the film’s earlier box office momentum. Within 11 days of its release, Oversabi Aunty had crossed the ₦380 million mark, earning ₦382,897,436 in December. At the time, FilmOne described the performance as an “Oversabi box office takeover” and noted that the film delivered Nollywood’s second-highest opening of 2025.

With its new ranking, Oversabi Aunty has displaced Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street (2022), which grossed over ₦660 million, and Omo Ghetto: The Saga (2020), which earned more than ₦630 million.

The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Dike Osinachi (Kidbaby), Jemima Osunde, Adebowale Adedayo (Adedamee), Enioluwa Adeoluwa, alongside Toyin Abraham.
