The OML 150 Communities Consultative Forum, led by Dr. Monday Agbeyi, has denounced media reports that the forum has been dissolved.
A statement issued by Vice Chairman Comrade Emmanuel Afotan described the claims as misleading and inflammatory, designed to create unrest among the OML 150 host communities in Warri, Delta State.
The statement described the dissolution claims as the work of “dissident and self-serving individuals” lacking the authority to influence the Forum’s status.
The Forum emphasized that such claims are baseless, citing the Latin legal maxim “Nemo dat quod non habet” — one cannot give what they do not possess.
The Forum’s leadership pointed to official documents from the Delta State Government’s Ministry of Oil and Gas and the Palace of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, affirming the Forum’s legitimacy and ongoing mandate. They characterized the claims as an affront to both the state government and the Olu of Warri.
In light of these developments, the Forum has appealed to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR to intervene and address the actions of individuals such as Chief Billy Besigiwa, Johnson Onire, Fidelix Orugboh, and Samson Agintan.
The Forum warned that continued provocations could lead to significant communal unrest and urged respect for the tenure granted by the Olu of Warri.
