The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a suspected serial rapist, Hussaini Shuaibu, also known as “Abati,” for allegedly defiling five minors in different parts of the state.
The arrest was carried out following credible intelligence and complaints from residents, which led NSCDC operatives to track down and apprehend the suspect, according to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Jerry Victor.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged offences were committed at different times and locations, with the suspect reportedly targeting vulnerable children across the state.
Confirming the arrest, the State Commandant, Brah Samson Umoru, described the alleged acts as inhumane, criminal, and a grave violation of the rights of children. He reiterated the NSCDC’s resolve to protect minors and other vulnerable persons, stressing that sexual violence would not be tolerated in Nasarawa State.
Umoru said the suspect is currently in NSCDC custody and will be thoroughly investigated before being prosecuted in accordance with the law, adding that justice would be pursued to serve as a deterrent to others with similar criminal intentions.
He also urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, while encouraging victims of sexual abuse to come forward with assurances of confidentiality and necessary support.
The NSCDC Nasarawa Command further called on members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and public safety across the state.
