Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, has announced the return of contractor to the Aideyan/Golf Course Road, just days after he exposed the poorly reconstruction work done by the contractor handling the project.

Shaibu, who was reinstated as deputy governor after his hasty impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly, made a triumphant return to the state last week and immediately embarked on an inspection of ongoing projects in the state.

During the exercise, he lamented the shoddy job done on the Aideyan/Golf Course road, demanding rectification.

“I am pleased to announce that my recent expose on the poorly reconstructed Aideyan/Golf Course road in GRA, Benin, has yielded swift results.

“Less than 48 hours after I issued a marching order for the contractors to fix the road as soon as possible, they returned to the site to rectify the issues,” the deputy governor said via a post on his Facebook page on Thursday.

He expressed his commitment to ensuring that “our infrastructure meets the highest standards. The Aideyan/Golf Course road is a critical artery that serves many residents and businesses, and its poor condition was unacceptable.”

“I want to commend the contractors for their prompt response and commitment to delivering quality work. As a government, we will no longer tolerate substandard work, even as we continue to prioritize the people’s interests.”

Shaibu assured the people of the state that the administration would continue to work tirelessly to address the challenges facing the state, appealing for the cooperation of the citizens towards building a better Edo State.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor has been very active in the state after his return from a political hiatus occasioned by his ‘removal’, and subsequently helping the APC defeat Governor Godwin Obaseki’s chosen successor, Mr Asue Ighodalo, of the PDP.

Obaseki is currently on vacation outside the country and there are indications that he might not return to handover to his successor and winner of the September 21 governorship election.
