The NNPC Foundation Ltd./Gte was named Africa’s Most Responsible Organisation at the 2025 SERAS Sustainability Awards in Lagos, securing five major prizes at the continent-wide sustainability event.
The foundation won awards for Decent Work, Stakeholder Engagement, Poverty Reduction and Africa Sustainability Professional of the Year, organisers said at the ceremony, themed “Sustainability 2.0”.
Managing Director Emmanuella Arukwe said the recognition highlighted the organisation’s impact in health, education, clean energy and poverty reduction across Nigeria. She said more than 6,000 cataract surgeries had been conducted, 40,000 STEM books distributed to schools and over one million National Youth Service Corps members trained in financial literacy.
Other interventions include cancer screening programmes, renovated hospital wards, support for flood-affected communities and climate-smart agriculture training for more than 15,000 farmers. The foundation also donated 45 CNG buses to support clean energy transport and carried out environmental projects such as tree-planting campaigns.
SERAS founder Ken Egbas praised the organisation’s work, noting that 325 entries from 31 African countries competed in this year’s edition, which he described as one of the continent’s leading sustainability benchmarks.
