The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned Mamman Ali, son of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Ahmadu Ali, on charges related to an alleged N2.2 billion oil subsidy fraud.
Ali, alongside Christian Taylor and Nasaman Oil Services Limited, appeared before Justice Mojisola Dada at the Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja on Wednesday. The defendants faced an amended 57-count charge.
Initially arraigned on 49 counts, they were accused of conspiracy, obtaining money under pretenses, forgery, and using fraudulent documents—violations of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud-Related Offences Act 2006 and the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
During the adoption of final written addresses, EFCC prosecutor Seiduh Atteh informed the court that new findings necessitated an amendment to the charges. The court approved the prosecution’s request, and the defendants pleaded not guilty.
Defence counsel Obafemi Kolade then sought additional time to revise the defence’s written address. In response, Justice Dada instructed the prosecution to file its response before the next hearing.
The case has been adjourned until April 15 for the adoption of final written addresses.
